Safe and compliant biohazard waste management services

Flexible, efficient and discreet biohazard medical waste disposal for facilities of all sizes

Genetically modified organisms (GMO) and biohazardous waste disposal requires sensitive handling to prevent harm to the environment and minimise risk to staff. Waste derived from human or animal research containing infectious substances is classified as infectious GMO waste while waste without are categorized as non-infectious GMO waste. These are considered as regulated medical waste.

All infectious and non-infectious GMOs contained within clinical waste should be pre-bagged before disposal. In the medical and healthcare industry, “contained use” refers to the usage, storage, transport and destruction of GMOs to provide a high level of safety by limiting contact between GMOs and humans or the environment.

The G64: Transports GMO waste safely and securely

Cleanaway Daniels provides safe and secure disposal of GMO waste through the G64, our special GMO bin from the Clinismart range. The G64 is also approved by the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) to hold and transport genetically modified organisms (GMO) waste in a single-level containment.

Designed with the same security and ease of use found in other Clinismart bins, the G64 features a reusable container that minimises infection transmission and contamination through a convenient foot pedal mechanism. It is made of maximised hardened plastic and has a leak-proof body and lid securely seals fluids and odours, perfect for containing GMO and biohazardous waste while ensuring safe transport during the disposal process.

Containers are subjected to a stringent 8-step process that ensures it is safe for reuse before deployment.

Weigh and scan

After being added onto the robotic conveyor belt, containers are weighed and scanned to ensure traceability of origin.

The containers are automatically opened and upended to empty its content for processing

Containers are blasted with strong streams of water to flush out any residue, dried blood or residual fluid

The container is then put through a cold and hot water wash cycle

To ensure bacteria is eliminated, containers are rinsed twice with hot water at different temperatures

Containers are blow-dried to remove surface water

Containers are applied with a special coating that prevents sticky materials like adhesives, bodily fluids and blood from sticking.
